Spectators packed Taper Gymnasium as it housed a United States Women’s National volleyball team intrasquad scrimmage on Friday.
The U.S. team, which is ranked number one in the world, split into two squads and competed in several sets against each other, while apparel and gear was both sold and given away in contests.
The team’s participation on the upper campus comes as part of its “Give Something Back” campaign, which was launched to strengthen connections with junior volleyball players throughout Southern California. U.S. head coach Karch Kiraly answered questions from viewers before the scrimmage, and several Wolverine volleyball players assisted in the event.
Friday was the second time in two months a U.S. National team participated at the upper school, after the U.S. Wrestling team practiced in Hamilton Gymnasium this past May.
