2013 has been a golden year for baseball head coach Matt LaCour. First, his Wolverine baseball team earns a number one ranking among all high school baseball teams across the nation. Next, the team brings home a CIF State Division I Championship for the first time in school history. Now, LaCour will bring home international gold, after the serving as pitching coach for the United States Under-15 baseball team at the COPABE Pan-American games from July 26 to Aug. 4.
At the games in Barranquilla, Colombia, the U.S. finished 8-0 against countries from throughout North, Central, and South America. The U.S. team defeated Cuba 6-1 in the gold medal game on Aug. 4.
The LA Times and CIF Coach of the Year LaCour will return to the Wolverines, as they prepare to vie for a second straight championship in 2014.
