After fending off elimination in three matches, the girls’ varsity volleyball team conquered its demons by defeating Thousand Oaks to win the So Cal Summer Challenge at California Lutheran University on Aug. 10.
The Lancers defeated the Wolverines at the beginning of the Challenge tournament to put them on the brink of elimination. The Wolverines rallied back to reach the finals, where they captured the title in a down-to-the-wire match, defeating the Lancers 25-23 in a 3rd game.
The volleyball team will compete in two scrimmages, including a scrimmage against Thousand Oaks on Aug. 27, and the Redondo Union High School Summer Invitational before starting the regular season against Santa Barbara on Sept. 3.
