Of the three varsity sports teams that played at Homecoming Oct. 5, only the boys’ water polo team successfully defended its home territory.

The football team’s undefeated start to the season came to an end Saturday as the Wolverines fell to Palisades Charter High School 45-18. Although the Wolverines were  ahead 8-7 early in the game, they struggled to mount much more offense against the Dolphins. The team was also damaged by a slew of penalties and turnovers, as well as an injury to running back Garrett Robinson ’15.

The girls’ volleyball team lost to Lakewood 3-1 Saturday. The Wolverines fell behind early as Lakewood went up two sets to none in convincing fashion, defeating Harvard-Westlake 25-12 in the first set. The Wolverines started strong on the comeback trail, opening with five unanswered points on their way to win the third set, but the deficit proved to be too much for the team.

Boys’ water polo moved to 8-1 on the season as the team defeated Long Beach Wilson 11-8. The Wolverines took the lead early and although the Bruins would not let up and would continue to try and claw their way back, the Wolverines had an answer for every goal. Johnny Hooper ’15 led the team with four goals, supporting Anthony Ridgley’s numerous saves in goal.
