The one-seed Wolverine girls’ soccer team found little trouble in the form of at-large seed Rancho Cucamonga, routing its first round opponent 5-1 Friday to advance to round two of CIF Playoffs.
Courtney O’Brien ’15 led the Wolverines’ scoring efforts with a brace, with Courtney Corrin ’16, Montana Reilly ’16 and Lucy Putnam ’14 each adding on a goal apiece. The Wolverines mounted offensive pressure throughout the postseason matchup, and did not concede a goal until the final moments of the game, when Rancho Cucamonga scored off a penalty kick.
The team will move on to the second round of CIF Playoffs, where they will face the winner of Trabuco Hills-Los Osos Feb. 26, as the Wolverines continue on the path for a CIF Championship.
