Co-captain David Manahan ’14 finished his high school track career with the State Championship title and new school record of 1:51.04 over 800m at the California State Championships June 7.
Manahan earned first place with a margin of one-hundredth of a second.
“I knew it was a possibility [that I could win], but the field was so close, it could’ve been anyone’s race,” Manahan said. “I just did the right things on the best day possible.”
Teammate Alexandria Florent ’15 claimed runner-up in the high jump with a jump of 5’10”. The champion of the girls’ high jump also jumped 5’10” but received second place on attempts. Courtney Corrin ’16 also took runner-up in the long jump in 20′ 1/4”.
Corrin, Imani Cook-Gist ’15, Francesca Walker ’16 and Shea Copeland ’15 took fourth in the girls’ 4x100m relay. The girls’ team overall tied for fifth place.
