The varsity football team defeated La Salle High School 20-14 in an away league game during La Salle High School’s Homecoming on Sept. 29. The team moves to an overall record of 3-3, with a league record of 1-0.
Football Program Head Aaron Huerta said using Aidan Greenfield ’24 and Aayran Mehdi Williams ’27 interchangeably at the quarterback position allowed the team to have a more versatile offense.
“[Greenfield and Mehdi Williams] need to be one step ahead of the defense,” Huerta said. “We knew that with [Greenfield] everyone knows we’re going to run the ball, so if we can get a passing game with [Mehdi Williams] it makes us a whole different team.”
Huerta said the team is focused on winning one game at a time.
“All I talked about this week was going 1-0,” Huerta said. “The win was huge, we just needed to go 1-0. Now it’s our homecoming. Everyone’s going to be there and I’m really excited about it.”
The team will face St. Anthony High School at home during the school’s 2023 Homecoming on Oct. 7.
