Boys’ basketball guard Trent Perry ’24 announced his official commitment to play Division 1 basketball at the University of Southern California (USC). According to the 2024 ESPN 100, Perry is ranked 42nd in the class of 2024. Perry chose USC over other Division 1 schools such as the University of Colorado, the University of Oregon, Gonzaga University, Texas Christian University (TCU) and Stanford University.
In an interview with ESPN, Perry said he is grateful for God, his family and his teammates.
“First off, I just want to thank God for putting me in this position,” Perry said. “I couldn’t do it without Him. I want to thank my parents as well, for guiding me the right way and always sticking by me. I also want to thank the coaches who recruited me, it was really nice to get to know them. Lastly, I want to thank my teammates. They’re my brothers, and they just allow me to be who I am on and off the court.”
Perry said USC’s confidence in him as a player and being able to play in his hometown ultimately led him to make his decision.
“[USC] really believed in me,” Perry said. “They’re one of the first major programs to recruit me, and they think I could be the juice of the program. Being able to represent the hometown team is a blessing.”
