The boys’ basketball team defeated Burroughs High School 88-47 at home in a non-league game Nov. 29. Forward Nik Khamenia led the team in scoring with 17 points, and guard Trent Perry ’24 recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 14 assists and ten rebounds. The Wolverines stay undefeated with an overall record of 6-0.
Forward Barron Linnekens ’26 said the team could have performed better on the defensive end.
“I think we gave up too many points tonight,” Linnekens said. “A team like [Burroughs] should not have scored 47 points.”
Linnekens said the team needs to stay consistent in games regardless of the opposing team’s strength.
“Everyone needs to do their job,” Linnekens said. “We have these spurts where we show we’re the best team in the country, but then we have spurts like playing tonight where we allowed way too many points.”
The team will next face Perry High School in the 2023 Hoophall West Classic on Dec. 2, hosted at Chaparral High School in Arizona. According to MaxPreps, Perry is currently ranked 13th in the country.
