The girls’ varsity basketball team earned the second seed in the Division 4-AA CIF Playoffs and will host San Marino in the first round Thursday.
A win in the first round would land the girls in the second round against Laguna Beach, who tied for second in the Orange Coast League.
The number one seed in the division is J Serra. The top two teams were moved up to the open division, a separate division that pulls the best teams from across the various divisions of CIF Playoffs so they can compete amongst each other.

The team finished third in the Mission League behind Chaminade and Alemany after splitting its final two games last week en route to a 17-11 overall record and 4-4 league record. The first of the two games was a 54-40 away loss to top ranked Alemany Tuesday. In the second game, the girls bounced back with a 58-46 home victory against Marlborough Thursday.
During halftime of the Marlborough game, the Parent Hype Squad, a group of parents of players who dress in uniform and take pride in their cheering during girls’ basketball games, performed a dance routine alongside the drumline and cheerleaders.
