Two doubles teams and two singles players from the boys’ tennis team reached the finals of Mission League Individuals, qualifying for CIF Individuals where one doubles team reached the quarterfinals. Michael Genender ’15 was named the United States Tennis Association Southern California Player of the Year.

At Mission League Individuals, Adam Sraberg ’17 faced Jaird Meyer ’15 in the finals of the singles tournament while the team of Parker Chusid ’15 and Jed Kronenberg ’17 faced George Noonan ’16 and Jacob Tucker ’17 in the finals of the doubles tournament. Though Sraberg defeated Meyer, and Chusid and Kronenberg defeated Noonan and Tucker, all of them qualified for the CIF Individuals since they were either a runner up or a champion at the Mission League Individuals.

Sraberg and Meyer breezed past the initial qualifying rounds at CIF Individuals, but both lost in the round of 32 of the main draw. Meyer played through a thumb injury suffered at the senior retreat.

“All in all, I won six matches and played some good tennis, which I’m very happy about,” Sraberg said.

Noonan and Tucker won their first match but were eliminated in their second matchup of the qualifying rounds at CIF Individuals. Chusid and Kronenberg got through the qualifying rounds and eventually lost in the quarterfinals to a doubles team made up of the two best singles players from Viewpoint.

Genender, who will play tennis at Stanford University next school year, was awarded the USTA Southern California Player of the Year award after a nearly flawless season. Genender’s only losses this year came in the finals of CIF against Los Alamitos, where he played through a shoulder injury.
