Helping Young People Excel (HYPE) will hold a “friend-raiser” on Oct. 15 to celebrate successes from the past year and honor supporters.
Harvard-Westlake has partnered with the organization, which helps send talented, low-income students to independent schools in the Los Angeles area, for six years.
Sara Hernandez, a Los Angeles Unified School District middle school teacher, founded HYPE to change the life trajectories of her students.
Students receive intense programming to help in admission to college preparatory schools, as well as financing their education and progressing through high school and life.
