The Faculty Academic Committee voted to abolish the testing calendar before winter break at its monthly meeting Tuesday, March 7. The committee also established the last day of school before winter break, which will be Friday, Dec. 20 in the 2013-2014 school year, as a no-test day except for makeup tests.
FAC worried that the calendar forced teachers to hasten lesson plans to meet the arbitrary deadlines.
The goal of the new policy is to “ensure that the tests fall naturally and to lessen the stress on students,” FAC Head Kent Nealis said.
