The Upper School Theater Department announced “Hairspray” as the fall musical, “The Matchmaker” as the winter play and the annual Playwrights Festival as the spring production.
“Hairspray,” co-directed by performing arts department head Rees Pugh and performing arts teacher Michele Spears, will be Nov. 7, 8 and 9. Audition materials will be released in mid-to-late June, and auditions will begin Aug. 29.
“The Matchmaker,” which will be Feb. 7, 8 and 9, will be directed by performing arts teacher Ted Walch.
The Playwrights Festival will be April 24, 25, 26 and 27 and produced by performing arts teacher Chris Moore. Moore advised prospective writers to begin working on plays over the summer, although meetings will be in early September.
