After Head of External Relations Ed Hu shared the New York Times article featuring Alexander Marlow ’04, the current editor-in-chief of the Breitbart News Network, on Facebook, alumni commented on the post and disputed whether the school should have called attention to the alumnus’s role at the publication as an accomplishment.
Commenters argued over the difference between freedom of speech and hate speech, and whether or not the school should endorse the news outlet, which has been accused of publishing biased headlines.
“I’d still march in the streets for Breitbart’s constitutional right to print whatever ugly headlines they want, but that doesn’t mean my community should celebrate them,” one alumna commented on the Facebook post.
