Singer-songwriter and musician Jillian Banks ’06 will not speak as planned at Monday’s La Femme club meeting.
“[Banks’] management contacted [alumni administrator Janiece] Richard over the weekend to let us know that she has extended her time in Europe to conclude on an important collaboration that had been scheduled prior to our meeting,” Executive Assistant to the Head of Athletics Shauna Altieri said in an email to students signed up to attend the event. “She is very much looking forward to seeing you sometime over the 2014-15 school year and is an enthusiastic supporter of girls’ empowerment.”
The club will still meet for discussion Monday in Ahmanson Lecture Hall.
Though La Femme is a female empowerment club, the event was open to all students and male students were signed up to attend.
Banks was named one of the top 10 performances at the Coachella Valley Arts and Music Festival by the Hollywood Reporter this year.
She planned to speak about her time at Harvard-Westlake and her entry into the music business, as well as how being a woman affected her career, Altieri said.
