Prefects Hunter Brookman ’16 and Grace Pan ’16 were elected head prefects for the 2015-2016 school year in online balloting Wednesday and Thursday.
The results were announced in an email to juniors and sophomores from the Prefect Council.
The other finalists were Adam Yaron ’16 and Shelby Weiss ’16.
Students interested in running for Junior or Senior Prefect submitted their candidate packets Friday.
In an assembly Wednesday, candidates answered two questions.
Each candidate had 90 seconds to answer the prepared question, “Who are you?”
After 30 seconds to prepare, candidates also answered the question, “Who are you, really?” for 90 seconds.
“I’m someone who believes in the power of experimentation to shape my experiences,” Pan said. “I’m stubbornly optimistic. Once I think something’s a good idea, I’m determined to make it happen.”
Brookman started his unprepared speech with “I live in the clouds at 30,000 feet.”
“[That] was to introduce the idea about my hopeful vision for the future of Harvard-Westlake and the promising personal growth that we can all share together,” Brookman said.
The finalists were selected after a primary election March 17 during a junior class meeting where finalists and candidates Nina Woythaler ’16, Brandon Lim ’16 and Jordan Strom ’16 made their first campaign speeches in Rugby Theater.
