Beginning Jan. 22, students who wish to remain on campus after 4 p.m. will be required to stay in adult-supervised areas, as individual classrooms and gathering places will be locked. To provide students with a place to work until the 6:15 p.m. late bus, the Mudd Library will stay open until 6 p.m. daily.
Previously, the library was open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.
The librarians decided to extend the library’s hours to allow students with after-school activities and those who take the late bus to have an indoor space to work.
“Kids will be able to use this space before they go to their practices,” librarian Edie Darling said. “[Students] who take the late bus can command their time differently and not have to hustle around and look for empty classrooms or hallways to work. It is a way to make sure they have a safe place to be.”
