Current Head of Upper School Laura Ross will step in as Associate Head of School beginning in July of 2020, President Rick Commons announced in an email to students, parents and faculty July 8.
Ross will replace Interim Associate Head Debbie Reed, who agreed to fill in the position after the passing of former Associate Head Liz Resnick in March. Ross will continue to serve as Head of Upper School for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year, while Reed will carry out the duties of Associate Head of School.
Since her arrival at the school in 2017, Ross has contributed positively to the community by leading efforts to improve student life and bridge the gap between the administration and the student body, Commons said in the email.
“[Ross] has spearheaded critical curricular and structural initiatives and managed the most vexing day-to-day challenges while conveying in every interaction her love of teaching and learning and deep respect for the students, parents, faculty and staff involved,” Commons said in the email. “Furthermore, [Ross’s] work with other school leaders, from the Middle School to athletics to admissions to advancement, has made us all better at what we do.”
Starting this month, the school will conduct an international search for a new Head of Upper School to succeed Ross, Commons said.
