The Oceanography and Marine Biology class took a day-long boat trip out of Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach Feb. 20, organized by Dr. Blaise Eitner. The students participated in the Los Angeles County Department of Educationâs Marine Laboratory Floating Program, which entails observing sea lions and sea birds and collecting plankton samples. Students were also able to observe fish and invertebrates caught in the net. The class has a trip planned to the Aquarium of the Pacific March 27 and an optional nighttime boat trip later in the spring.
