The girlsâ volleyball team avenged last yearâs semifinals loss to Marymount last night, beating the Sailors at home in three straight sets to move into CIF finals and clinch a spot in the state tournament.
The Wolverines got off to an early lead in the first set, only to give it up after a 12-4 Marymount run. Down 19-13, the team went on a 12-4 run of their own, capped off by two Meg Norton â10 aces on the final two points to take the set, 25-23.
The team won the next two sets 25-17 and 25-19, respectively, with an offensive attack led by Norton and senior middle blocker Cathryn Quinn. The two combined for 31 kills, and senior setter Katherine Sebastian finished with 43 assists.
The team will face league rival Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in the CIF finals this Saturday, whom they beat twice during the regular season.
