French students earned top scores in this yearâs national French exam Le Grand Concours. In level five, juniors Josh Oreman, Sara Fleischman and Oliver Doublet scored first, fourth and seventh in nationals respectively and first, second and third in Southern California. Tony Baker â09, Joe Girton â10 and Aidan Rajswing â08 each scored third nationally and first regionally for level four.
In French level three, Jessica Marot â09 received a perfect score, and placed first in the nation. Mario Cuevas â09 and Rosie Statman â09 placed second in the nation. Christine Byun â10, Haley Feldman â09, Simha Haddad â09, and Eva Levy â10 all placed third in the nation, said French teacher Marilyn Shield.
In French level two, Todd Albert â10 placed fourth in the nation.
Oremanâs score makes him eligible for the Rotary Academic Prize, a scholarship for two weeks in Paris with free accommodation, enrollment at the Alliance Française and roundtrip airfareticket from Washington, D.C. to Paris.
Approximately 20 other students in both French classes placed between fourth and tenth place in the nation. All these students will receive honors at an Awards Ceremony on May 17 at Pasadena City College.
