The boys’ varsity basketball team continued their run towards a State title, defeating Ridge View High School Tuesday night in Taper Gymnasium to advance to the State Quarterfinals, Thursday also in Taper.
In the quarterfinals, the Wolverines will face off against Gahr High School, the same team they defeated in the CIF Finals last Saturday. Against Ridge View, the Wolverines used a balance attack and their stifling full court press to jump out to an early 20 point first quarter lead and never looked back.
“We were able to affect their guards early and our press was very efficient,” Head Coach Greg Hilliard said.
10 different Wolverine players scored in all, a symbol for the multi faced team attack the Wolverines have been using to wear down opponents all year.
“It seems like a different guy picks it up every night,” Hilliard said.
The start time for Thursday’s game has not yet been determined.
