Despite losing key starter Katie Speidel ’11 to the Las Vegas College Showcase tournament, the girls’ soccer team rolled through South Torrance Thursday on its way to the regional championship, the highest level of CIF soccer competition.
Haley Boysen ’10 scored early and freshman Cami Chapus added another goal to take a 2-0 lead for most of the first half. The Spartans responded with three minutes left, making for a tight game going into halftime. The comeback was short lived, however, and the Wolverines quickly took the game back for good with another Boysen goal less than 10 minutes into the second half to seal a 3-1 lead.
The team will play its final game of the season Saturday at Downey High School for the Division II Southern California championship.
