For the second year in a row, the girls’ basketball team will start the state championship playoffs with a CIF Div. IV-AA Title. The Wolverines beat Bishop Montgomery High School, 58-54. Both Nicole Hung ‘10 and Nicole Nesbit ‘10 scored 16 points.
At the end of the first half the girls were down by three points but were able to tie the score by the middle of the third quarter. With only 1:55 left in the third quarter, the wolverines had a one-point lead and ended the third quarter with a four-point lead, 43-39.
Late in the fourth quarter, Bishop Montgomery was able to close the gap down to just two points and was only one shot away from making it a tie game when Skylar Tsutsui â11 scored a layup with just 3 seconds left in the game. With a four-point lead and only three seconds left, Bishop Montgomery was unable to defeat the Wolverines who went home with a second CIF title.
The team is now 30-1 and has won 26 games in a row.
