A student-run bake sale raised $375 for Race for the Cure last Monday, Anna Romanoff ’11 said. The bake sale was partly organized through Peer Support, and multiple leaders and trainees both baked and sold items for the sale, Romanoff said.
This is the first year a bake sale for Race for the Cure has taken place at Harvard-Westlake.
“I mostly did it this year because I have a team in the race,” Romanoff said.
Race for the Cure is the largest walk/run world-wide that raises money for breast cancer research. Romanoff and her team participated in the Los Angeles race on March 6.
Students could only purchase the baked goods in cash rather than charging to their ID cards. Many recent bake sales have not been able to charge payments to students’ accounts.
“A lot of people came up wanting to buy [baked goods], but didn’t have any cash,” Romanoff said. “I think we probably would have made more if it wasn’t cash only.”
