The girls volleyball team was defeated by Santa Barbara in their home opener, Sept. 6 by a score of 0-3.
“Even though it wasn’t the result we wanted, I still feel like we were able to take away something positive from this. It’s stlil early so I am confident that we’ll iron out the creases and be ready for the next game,” middle blocker Lucy Tilton ’12 said.
Despite their initial showing in the first set, the team improved their play over the course of the match and were able to make things interesting in the last set.
“I think that this year we have so many new players on varsity, that it takes a little longer to get things going strong. We’ve been playing against some really tough teams including Poly, which is helping us learn the things we need to improve on both individually and as a team,” libero Sofía Davila ’12 said.
The team travels to Redondo Beach this Thursday for their match against the Redondo Union Sea Hawks.
“It’s going to be a really fun and competitive game,” setter Bea Dybuncio ’13 said.
