1. For what position are you running?
I am running for Junior Prefect.
2. What makes you feel that you are qualified for the position? Please describe any leadership experiences you’ve had, if applicable.
I feel that I am qualified for Junior prefect simply because I believe I am out-going. I am very easy to talk to and I feel that my out-going personality would be a good addition and allow for great new ideas. I also feel qualified for the position because I am in two separate extra curricula’s that allow me to branch out to more kids in the school. I am part of the varsity tennis team, which allows me to reach out to many kids in athletics and I am also apart of the Jazz band, which allows me to reach out to the kids that take part in music.
3. How do you feel about the Honor Board and what has led you to feel this way?
I feel that the Honor Board is overall a good idea; however, I don’t feel that students should sit on the honor board and I feel that the punishments that are given are too dependent on the person who made the infraction. The reason I feel that students shouldn’t sit on the honor board is because they have little to no experience handling a situation as serious as breaking the honor code. The reason I feel that punishments are too dependent on the person is because I have seen many of the cases have different punishments for infractions that are less severe than others. If I were elected I would hope to make sure that every punishment be looked at in relation to other cases of infractions.
4. Please describe one thing in Harvard-Westlake’s community you would change. Also, how would you use the influence of the position of Junior/Senior Prefect to change our community?
As a student who participates in both athletics and music I have come across multiple situations where there have been conflicts between the two. There needs to be a better way so that both parties know the schedule of the other so that there are no arguments when it comes down to the last minute. If both the schedules were presented at the beginning of the year, each head could then try and do their best to make sure that no conflicts occur in the future. If I were elected I would use my influence to help bring out the ideas of my peers. I would to the best of my ability bring forth new ideas that would be beneficial to the community as a whole.
