Students will showcase projects in the fields of science, technology, engineering and technology in “Beyond the Test Fest,” the fourth installment of the annual STEMfest, during activities period Monday, May 21. The festival will feature booths and activities on Ted Slavin field, the Quad and Munger Science Center.

This year’s event will host a handful of new additions, including a full-length play, a bake sale and film screenings in Ahmanson Lecture Hall.

“As early as the first STEMfest, we saw the students were interested in exploring and bettering their world through science and technology,” Committee Head and Math Department Chair Paula Evans said.

Bosilika An ’12 and Senior Prefects Evan Brown ’12 and Katie Price ’12 organized the fest, which provides an outlet for seniors to share interdisciplinary studies and for all students to explore internship opportunities in scientific fields, find study abroad programs and research junior fellowships.

The festival will also present advances made by science-oriented clubs on campus. The Robotics Club will show their newest creation, while other students will offer observations from a geology class trip to the Mojave Desert.

“It is simply cool to see the iPhone apps, video games, math-science films, robots and other stuff created by students,” Evans said.
