Desmond Butler ’15 and Lizzy Thomas ’14 were named the September Student Athletes of the Month by the Student Athletic Advisory Council.
Butler is the defensive captain of the varsity football team. He was a 2012 Cal-Hi Sports Football All-State sophomore first-team linebacker and has led the Wolverines to a record 4-0 start this season. Butler has accumulated 47 tackles, including four which were for a loss of yards, so far this season.
Thomas, who is one of the captains of the girls’ varsity cross country team, won the Seaside Invitational, Wayne Walker Invitational and the opening Mission League meet.
“Lizzy is competing with great confidence and leading the team to a tremendously successful beginning of the season,” cross country coach Jonas Koolsbergen said.
Thomas also finished in the top 10 at the Woodbridge Invitational Sept. 20.
