Mila Barzdukas ’15, Desmond Butler ’15, Alex Copeland ’15, Matthew Glick ’15, and Ryan Shelly ’15 have been selected to be the Head Fanatics for the 2014-2015 school year.
“Our goal is not only to get people to come support the teams at Harvard-Westlake, but to help build school spirit and a sense of community in athletics,” Barzdukas said. “Any athlete will tell you that having people cheer you on makes a difference, and we as Head Fanatics want to get people to experience the thrill of cheering their friends on.”
This year’s Head Fanatics were selected by Jonathan Felker ’14, one of last year’s Head Fanatics.
“I want to make being a Fanatic as fun as possible, and I want to get [a lot] of people to the games to support the athletes,” Butler said.
The job of the Head Fanatics is, simply put, to encourage student attendance and sportsmanlike support at all Harvard-Westlake sporting events.
“Our goal is that by the end of the year, we want to be known as one of the loudest cheering sections in Southern California,” Barzdukas said.
