Outfielder Jake Suddleson ’16 and third baseman/pitcher Cameron Deere ’16 were named to 2nd Team All CIF-Southern Section, and 1st Team All CIF June 23.
Suddleson was key in the Wolverines’ playoff run, hitting a home run in the CIF-SS Round of 32 against Vista Murrieta to even the score at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning. The Wolverines went on to win the game 6-3. For the year, Suddleson had an impressive hitting line of .380/.473/.673, tying Deere for the league’s lead with five home runs.
Deere, in 30 games this year, hit .440 with 35 RBIs to go along with his aforementioned five HRs. As a pitcher, Deere went 7-2 in 13 appearances on the mound, holding a 2.51 ERA and earning the Mission League’s Pitcher of the Year Award. The third baseman came up big in the team’s 11-10 Wild Card win against Mater Dei, going 2-3 with 4 RBIs and a HR. Deere was also named a second-team All-American by BaseballNews.com earlier in June, becoming the only Mission League player to be honored by the website.
