The Wolverines face the Jefferson Democrats in their second game of the season this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Ted Slavin Field. The Wolverines are coming off of a 34-0 loss in the season opener against Loyola.
In a battle of the presidents, Jefferson defeated Lincoln on the road in a 7-6 nailbiter last week. The Democrats scored the game-tying touchdown (and subsequent game-winning extra point) with 36 seconds remaining, and sealed the victory by blocking a 30 yard field goal attempt as time expired.
Both teams played their first season in their respective leagues last season. The Wolverines went 7-4 overall and finished third out of six teams in the Angelus League after going 3-2 in league play. They made the playoffs, but lost in the first round.
The Democrats did not make the playoffs last year despite finishing with an overall record of 6-4, as they finished finished fourth out of six teams in the Coliseum League after going 2-3 in league play.
The Democrats moved from the CIF-City Section’s Coliseum League to the Exposition League this off-season.
