The football team lost its first game of the season in a 26-58 defeat against St. Genevieve High School Sept. 11.

The squad dominated the start of the game, leading by a score of 28-21 by the end of the first half.  Lineman Edward Kim ’23 said the team’s dominant start was due to their intensity.

“We had really good energy as a team in the first half,” Kim said.  “During the second half, our energy levels dropped which I think lost us the game.”

The team went scoreless in the second half, losing the half by a margin of 35 points. Linebacker Bill Coleman ’24 reflected on the game and said his team has a lot to improve on.

We have to be more physical,” Coleman said. “We definitely need to learn from our mistakes and really focus on improving ahead of our next game.”

The Wolverines move to a 3-1 overall record in the season. The team looks to rebound in its next match against Pasadena Highschool Sept. 17.
