The boys and girls track and field team finished California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section (CIF-SS) Finals with Quinn Hamilton, Charles Abemayor, Jia Rhee and Carter Perry and is advancing to CIF-SS Masters the week of May 26.
Captain and distance runner Charles Abemayor ’26, who ran the fastest mile since 2005 at 4:17.49 at the Mt. San Antonio College (SAC) Relays on April 17, will be participating in the 3200M at Masters. He finished third in the CIF Division Three Final. Abemayor said he is happy with how he has been running and looks forward to continued competition at Masters.
“I was pretty happy with how finals went,” Abemayor said. “I wasn’t satisfied with the way I was racing early in the season, but I’ve been increasing my speed and I’m happy with where I am heading into Masters.”
Quinn Hamilton ’26 will be participating in the pole vault at Masters. Hamilton vaulted 15’3” at the SAC Relays on April 18. Hamilton said he thinks being more mindful of self care greatly enabled his success.
“Taking better mental care of myself and taking pressure off of my shoulders helped me do much better this year,” Hamilton said. “That is really what has gotten me to where I am today and in Masters.”
Hamilton said he is very happy with how his season went as a whole and is looking forward to competing in the CIF State Championships.
“I am really happy I was able to make it this far, and am excited to give it my all with hopes of making it to states,” Hamilton said.
