The girls’ volleyball team defeated the Marlborough Mustangs in their first Mission League home game of the season, 3-1.
For most of the first two sets, both teams played pretty evenly, and consistently traded points. Marlborough won the first game, 25-19, after scoring the last six points of the set to break open a 19-19 tie, and the Wolverines followed suit by scoring 9 of the final 14 points to win the second game 25-21.
The Wolverines, however, seized momentum when the third period started,as they rattled off to a 15-3 start, which Marlborough never recovered from. Harvard-Westlake won the fourth and decisive match 25-22, as Josie Treadwell ’16 punctuated the win with one of her many points of the night.
With the win, the squad is now 2-0 in league play, and 12-4 overall. Their next game is on Tuesday at rival Marymount.
