Students and staff participated in the Bloom Aid Fundraiser on Oct. 29 to raise money for those who are financially unable to purchase menstrual products. The student-led fundraiser sold Krispy Kreme donuts on the Quad during lunch in partnership with Bloom Aid, an organization that strives to raise awareness about women’s hygiene and increase access to menstrual products.
Julia Thomas ’27, an organizer of the event, said the goal was to support those who face period poverty and educate the school community.
“Through this fundraiser, I hoped to raise money to donate menstrual hygiene products to people in need, in order to combat period poverty,” Thomas said. “Period poverty, which is when people are unable to afford the necessary menstrual products, affects billions throughout the world and is often overlooked.”
The fundraiser accrued over $200 for the cause. Bloom Aid hopes to continue advocating for those who struggle to access menstrual products and aiding those in need. Additional donations to Bloom Aid can be made to gofundme.com.
