Improvisation groups, Jackanapes and Scene Monkeys, will perform in Rugby Theater on May 9 and 16 respectively. Both groups will have two performances, one at 4 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online and at the box office before shows.
The Scene Monkeys will also be performing on Mother’s Day, May 11, at the Hollywood Improv at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the Hollywood Impov website.
Each game lasts for about an hour and includes varying numbers of players. The scenes are all driven by audience suggestions.
Jensen McRae ’15 is a veteran Monkey, and the only sophomore in the group last year.
“In my opinion, it’s hands down the most fun group to be in on campus,” McRae said. “Everyone in it is hilarious and supportive and not afraid to put themselves out there. I don’t worry about screwing up or forcing the funny because I know that if I just go with the flow, everything is gonna turn out great.”
This year is the first for Elizabeth Edel ’16 in the Jackanapes.
“I’m feeling pretty good,” Edel said. “I think we’re ready. The energy from the audience will only make our energy on stage bigger and better.”
Adam Yaron ’16 and Greg Lehrhoff ’14 will be playing accompaniment during games that require music.
