The Athletic Department has introduced a weekly department-wide meeting called the Monday Morning Huddle.
“With increased frequency, our hope is that we will be able to discuss topics with more depth,” said Terry Barnum, Head of Athletics, in an email.
The meetings will give program heads an opportunity to come together to discuss coaching-related topics, such as athlete development, the hiring of assistant coaches, and working with other programs. Previously, the program heads met only three times a year.
In helping to guide the various programs as they work and interact with student and faculty, the department is developing a set of agreements between coaches, known as the Coaching Covenants.
The introduction of the Huddle and the Coaching Covenants have been well-received by the various program heads.
“I believe they are an excellent step for athletics at Harvard-Westlake…
developing a strong sense of what our core beliefs are as a department will only help us excel even more,” said Track Program Head Jonas Koolsbergen
