Upper school students are invited to attend the third annual Homecoming Formal dance in Taper Gymnasium on Oct. 10 hosted by Prefect Council. The dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m., and the doors will close at 8 p.m. until the end of the dance. Semi-formal attire and limos are allowed.
The dance this year will now include a DJ, food, photo booth and games. The outdoor area will be expanded from past years to include more seating and added market lights strung from a canopy, Head Prefect Grace Pan ’16 said.
A foosball table and added lounge space will be available inside to provide more options for students not on the dance floor.
“We’re changing up the décor to keep things fresh this year,” Pan said.
Like last year, students and their parents are required to sign a pledge online promising not to engage in illicit activities in order to purchase a ticket.
In addition, upper school students must fill out a form specifying the number of tickets they wish to purchase and whether they will be bringing an out of school guest to the dance.
By signing the form, students agree to take responsibility for their guest’s behavior if they are not a Harvard-Westlake student.
The first two Homecoming Formal dances in previous years both took place in September, but the timing of the dance changes every year.
“The dance depends on when the date of the Homecoming game is. This year, since seniors are allotted the PSAT weekend to visit colleges, we had to push the dance another week earlier,” Pan said.
