With Homecoming approaching Saturday, the Head Fanatics announced the details of this week’s Fanatic Fest festivities at today’s assembly, and students also made additional announcements detailing upcoming school-wide events.

To lead up to the pep rally on Friday, each day this week has a specific dress theme. Themes included “Marvel Monday,” “Twin Tuesday” and “Western Wednesday.” Tomorrow, students will wear ’80s inspired clothing for “Throwback Thursday,” and Local Ice will also be selling ice cream.

Students will also show their school spirit by sporting HW colors on Friday. Sophomores will wear red, juniors will wear white and seniors will wear black. Students can wear this year’s Fanatics shirt, which Fanatics sold today, to support the girl’s volleyball and field hockey players at their respective Senior Nights tomorrow.

The La Femme Club invited students and faculty to attend a presentation by singer Jillian Banks ’06, otherwise known as BANKS, in the Ahmanson Lecture Hall on Oct. 26 during break.

“This is our first year being entirely student-led, and so we’re trying to revamp the club, and one of the first things we’re doing to try to do that is having BANKS come and talk to us,” La Femme Club leader Sohni Kaur ’17 said.

Also on Oct. 26, Community Council will be making sandwiches to donate to the North Hollywood Food Pantry and asked students to assist.

Social Committee members urged students to dress up for Halloween to win the costume contest on Oct. 30. The winner will receive yearlong privileges to cut the line for food trucks on campus and will not be charged for their food. A separate prize will be rewarded to students who dress up in pairs or larger groups.

Justin Carr ’14 Dare to Dream Workshop members invited students to volunteer for future workshops to expose young students to the arts and tutor them in math.

A showing of “West-Side Story,” auditions for the winter play “The Madwoman of Chaillot” and a guest speaker to discuss suicide are coming up in November.
