The Advanced Jazz Combo and the Jazz Explorers will perform at Vibrato Grill Jazz from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 14.
“This is the most important gig,” bassist Robert Lee ’14 said. “Every year we get a good amount of people going to the show, and it’s people who we want to come to the show, not just parents, we’ve got kids. It’s just an awesome spot to play at.”
The bands have been preparing for their first performance since the beginning of the summer.
They have practiced nearly 30 pieces. The songs are “bee-bop tunes” and “old-school 40’s and 50’s songs,” including pieces by Horace Silver.
“Every year it’s just one of the best most exciting gigs to play at,” Lee said.
Jazz Director Shawn Cosantino will also be playing with his own quintet.
