Harvard-Westlake student Improv groups, the Jackanapes and the Scene Monkeys, will perform in Rugby Theater May 9 and 16 respectively. Both groups will have two performances at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
This is the first full-length show for the Jackanapes, who were created this year to accommodate more students who wanted to do improv. Each show will last about an hour and is made up of several improvisational games where actors will have to make up scenes based on audience suggestions.
“In my opinion, it’s hands down the most fun group to be in on campus,” Jensen McRae ’15, a second year Scene Monkey said. “Everyone in it is hilarious and supportive and not afraid to put themselves out there. I don’t worry about screwing up or forcing the funny because I know that if I just go with the flow, everything is gonna turn out great.”
“I’m feeling pretty good,” Elizabeth Edel ’16 a member of the new Jackanapes group said. “I think we’re ready. The energy from the audience will only make our energy on stage bigger and better.”
There will be a reception in-between each of the groups two shows held on the quad.
