After a 20-year tenure at Harvard-Westlake, Senior Advancement Administrator Brenda Janowitz will retire in early December.
Following her departure, Advancement Administrator Marla Schlom will take over her responsibilities, which include supervising database consistency, managing mailing projects and overseeing gift processing operations. Advancement Administrator Amber Kasongo will take over Schlom’s position.
Janowitz said that although she feels it is the right time for her to retire, she will miss both her colleagues and the community.
“The one thing I love about the school is it feels like family,” Janowitz said. “It is a warm and comfortable environment. We care about one another and would go out of our way to help each other in any way we can.”
Director of Advancement Eli Goldsmith said he is sad about Janowitz’s departure, and he appreciates all of the work she has done for the school.
“For 20 years, Brenda Janowitz has been the heart and soul of the Office of Advancement,” Goldsmith said. “We will miss both Brenda’s friendship and partnership. There is no way Harvard-Westlake’s advancement efforts could have been so successful over the past two decades without Brenda’s kindness, commitment and leadership.”
