The boys’ soccer began its league season with a 1-0 win over Chaminade on Ted Slavin field yesterday. The Wolverines started strong, creating many opportunities to score. The teams were closely matched, with no goals in the first half.
For the winning goal, defensive midfielder Pablo Greenlee ’20 dribbled up the field and passed a long ball to midfielder Henry Sanderson ’20. Sanderson then crossed the ball inside the box allowing Langston Holly ‘20 to score off a volley.
“It felt amazing when I scored. I had the idea to hit the ball the way I did, but I did not expect to hit it that well,” Holly said. “When it went in, everyone went crazy and so did I.”
The result resembled the teams’ match up last season when the Wolverines beat Chaminade 1-0 at home. The team will play at Notre Dame on Friday for their second league game.
