Jay Paulson â96 is a cast member on âOctober Road.â Paulson plays Phil. The character Phil is a friend of Nick Garrett, whose semi-autobiographical novel about life in Knights Ridge, Massachusetts made him a literary superstar, but alienated his hometown. âPhysical Phil,â as Paulsonâs character is known is known, suffers from agoraphobia, a crippling anxiety disorder that has prevented him from leaving his home since Sept. 11, 2001. âOctober Roadâ airs Thursdays at 10 on ABC.
