A 1-1 tie after overtime in the varsity field hockey team’s match against Glendora was enough for the girls to take the Mission League Title on Tuesday.
Brooke Bagnall ’14 assisted Lucy Putnam ’14 for the Wolverines’ only goal of the game. After 10 minutes of overtime the score remained unchanged and ended in a tie, making Harvard-Westlake league champions.
“Winning league allowed us to have two home games out of the three in all of playoffs,” said Annie Wasserman ’13. “So we have home field advantage leading up to the championship game.”
The team’s final league match is against Bonita, who they previously beat 5-1, on Oct. 27. Barring a loss in that match, they will finish their season undefeated in league play.
Winning the Mission League also allows the team to play lower-seeded teams come playoff time. Their first playoff match will be on Oct. 29.
