Despite coming off an undefeated Sunset League season, the Wolverines were defeated by Marina 1-0 in the first round of the Los Angeles Field Hockey Association playoffs.
With Alex Grande ’16 playing goalie, and her sister, Daniela Grande ’16, unable to play, Marina put up their only goal at the end of the first half on a breakaway wrist shot. Throughout the second half, the Wolverines had numerous opportunities to tie the game, but were unable to score a goal. Harvard-Westlake previously beat Marina this season Sept. 9 by a final score of 5-1.
This defeat ends the team’s season and their chances to repeat as LAFHA champions.
