The undefeated girls’ golf team emerged victorious in the Mission League mid-season tournament, shooting a team total of 205.
Josie Baker ’18 led the Wolverines, matching her season-low with an even 37. Claire Dennis ’18 also set a season-low, shooting 7-over 44.
The Wolverines’ first place finish earned the team seven points in the league’s scoring system, which determines placement in the CIF playoffs. The team now leads the league with 10 points.
“It puts us in a very good spot,” captain Chantalle Wang ’17 said. “It makes us feel very good, but we’re all very wary; we want to just keep our head in the game. We have a couple of more matches and then the final.”
Returning to normal play today at home, the Wolverines will face off against the also undefeated Notre Dame Knights.
The team is looking towards more success during the second half of its season, especially when going up against the strong Notre Dame lineup.
“It just makes us want to prepare more,” Wang said. “We know that they’re a very tough team to beat and we’ve been preparing, so hopefully we’ll do well.”
