The girls’ golf team capped their perfect season with a first-place finish at the Mission League finals on Monday. The victory clinched the league title for the Wolverines, their first since 2008.
“It feels really really good because last year we were in position to do the same thing and we weren’t able to close it out,” Baker said. “So it feels really good that this year we stayed focused on what we were doing and we were able to finish what we started last year.”
Josie Baker ’18 led the team for the fourth time this season with an even 72. Karina Guo ’18 added a 3-over 75. For the second match in a row, starter Daisy Wan ’20 was out of the lineup, participating in ninth grade retreat.
The squad earned the maximum 21 points possible in league play this season, winning all seven of their matches and taking first place in both tournaments. No girls’ golf team has gone undefeated since 2001.
“I think a lot of that is due to how the team works works really well together and how we’ve all grown really close over the season,” Baker said.
The team will send 5 players to the league individuals Thursday at River Ridge golf course.
